OMG.... rich and flavorful. Enough acid and tannin to be interesting. A good deal of fruit, but not just fruit - complexity as well. Previous 08s had been very good. But the bottle age on this wine proved to bring it to a new level. One of the best PN and/or Burgundies I have ever drunk. Certainly one of a small handful of CA PN that I will long remember.
The 08 August West Rosella's from SLH (Santa Lucia Highlands, just south of SFO) was the WOTN (wine of the night). Ed Kurtzman has always made good wines, and this is no exception. Some fruit. Some spice. Wonderful nose. Smooth. Elegant. Delicious. This is a fuller bodied pinot noir. Nothing left for a re-taste. 93 - 94. FYI, Ed makes the Sandler wines that were offered for BerserkerDay.
