Finishing off the bottle previously coravined tonight with burgers. Very dark, opaque coloring with garnet at the very edges. Smells strongly of anise and dry spice drawer, along with tobacco, eucalyptus, damp earth, and black fruits, a bit on the stewed side. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors tart black fruits, lemon, and minerals. Definitely drink up status, but enjoyable for us tonight.

Opened an '04 with our steak dinner and Coravin'd a glass of the '05 and '06 afterwards. All were dark, opaque coloring with garnet to more ruby each vintage. Similar across the board with cassis, blackberry, licorice, dusty cedar, and graphite notes. The '05 is notably more stony, graphite minerality, and the '06 is a bit more fruit and earth with dry spice notes. All are solid on the dark fruit spectrum and geared for a steak.
