It’s still too young. You can enjoy it now for its bright black cherry fruit and energy. But while deep in flavor there’s not much complexity yet and the acidity stands out a bit too much. The future is promising though so try again in 3-5 years.

It seems just about peak. Massively fruity and decent acidity and tannins. Black and red cherry with some plum. The oak is now integrated and is not excessive. You could rate it much higher if you prefer this style but to me it’s a bit too much of a brick to the head.

(2006) RP100. Wine of the night for sure. Best nose of the flight, even better than 1996. Deep garnet with top notch nose of red & black fruit. Yet so fresh despite the 27 years of aging. What a treat!

Unfortunately not even close to the bottle I gave 98 points in August 2020. Seems to be going through a closed phase and is not giving a lot at this moment even though I opened the bottle 6 hours and decanted 1 hour before drinking. The quality is certainly there but hidden. Massive, dense, concentrated with lots of tannins. Revisit the cas in 5 more years. Not rated.

Deep garnet red. Mouthwatering flavors of ripe cherry black pepper balsamic notes and some whit truffle. Full bodied with perfectly balanced tannins and very long and persistent finish. Still potential to go.

(MASSETO) 2006 Masseto Dear Friends, If you are an investor, this is blue-chip territory. While the entrance fee is high, so was Google at $125. While I sincerely hope all of you actually drink this wine I can't ignore the fact that the 2006 Masseto is far more difficult to obtain than something like Latour and it will almost certainly increase in value over the years. For the magnums, who knows how high they will go? As far as current pricing, it's all over the map. For some unexplainable reason, the state of Connecticut has bizarrely low prices on this wine (granted, it's only a few 6-packs scattered around but the bottles do exist) and the European prices are nearly double that of CT's? Magnums in Europe are already trading at $1500+ retail and the new factor of Hong Kong makes something like this tough to value - it will go as high as the Far East is willing to pay for 99pt wines. Oh yes, there is an actual wine to discuss. I'm a skeptic when it comes to Masseto but I have to confess, this wine is absolutely sublime. It is actually worthy of its praise. I can't remember another vintage of this wine with so much pure fruit and solid rock crammed together to form a stratified concoction of velveteen granite. Liquid spices seem to flow out of cracks in the stone with flowers sprouting out from every nook that the soil-fed nectar will allow. For comparisons sake, this wine reminds me of a young 1983 Margaux or more appropriately, 1989 Petrus. I believe this is the highest rated wine in Antonio Galloni's career: This parcel has perfect provenance (the finest I could muster). ONE SHIPMENT ONLY: 2006 Masseto (Ornellaia) 2006 Masseto (Ornellaia) 1.5lt Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy7834 Italy7835
