70% sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino , 15% Montepulciano ……. From Umbria. San Valentino is an organically grown single vineyard with 50 year old vines. Earthy, granite red in colour. Browning but fairly light overall in colour. As you get to the last bit in a glass the colour appears more scotch-like (like aged scotch) , toffee coloured. Earthy aromas, dried berries, leather, tobacco. This smells like an older wine with subtle wafts of scotch-like odours. Flavours .... Initially got some dried sour cherry. But this diminished with air time. Dried fruit, silky tannins that coat the mouth. Nice dose of spices on the mid palate to finish. Still nice acidity to balance and keep the slight scotch flavours at bay. Earthy, drying, interesting flavours. Good complexity. A very different wine.

Really strange wine! Nail polish remover and ripe cherries on the nose, medium body, almost Burgundy-like, with a tart finish. I'm not sure about further aging potential. At any rate, I'd certainly be happy to drink another bottle!

red and turbulent with a good 3 mm of orange bricking. earthy nose with sweet herbs, soil, and crushed berries. light bodied and very acidic. needs food. flavor reminds me of sherry vinegar without the vinegar. in a good way. some caramel and crushed red pepper is there. fine tannins linger. on the downside but still likeable.
