Community Tasting Notes (40) Avg Score: 95.3 points

  • Singing from first pour. A highly perfumed nose of rose petal, red and black fruits, earth and smoked meats. It is an elegant and beautifully balanced Chambertin, with terrific volume and latent power. It is velvety and it builds through the palate, fanning out on the incredibly long finish.

  • Tight, been poured right after opened. Very young while showing strength.

  • Somewhat muted compared to the last bottle, but very polished fruit. 95

  • This was rather disappointing. I can’t confirm the comments here about the openness and readiness of the wine. This was muted, only hinting at the substance there is, no bright fruit showing, no seductiveness, missing a bit of creaminess too, still slightly angular. This perfectly stored bottle with perfect provenance was at best drinking on a 91/92 pts level today. It was still quite obvious that there a bit more substance here which time will unlock but I‘m not sure the wine will reach the heights others already see now.

Decanting: PnP, then decanted and followed over 3+ hours. Improved with air, opened up slightly but never fully got there (even the last glass and with a lot of swirling didn’t show as well as one could expect).

  • Outstanding bottle. Purchased on release direct from domain. Double decanted. Great depth of fruit, great balance. Lovely nose of dark red fruits and herb, very full palate with savory red fruits and flowers. My wife, drinking blinded, said spectacular and drank more of the bottle than I hoped. Time left but is drinking very well right now and more mature than expected.
