  Still very serious with a hint of cherry, dark fruit, leather, and tobacco. Crazy how a second wine can be lively after almost 30 years, but LLC is indeed immortal. Straightforward, not complicated, fruity driven, and silky with perfectly integrated tannins. Just wow. Splash decant is all it needs. Drink now.

  Decanted 2 hrs. Oct. 8, 2023 and served with veal chop & porcini mushrooms: cork still intact; still youthful, energetic with a lively nose, great complexity and depth with a panoply of flavors mid-palate, and long finish with a hint of spice. Perfect food pairing. Really an outstanding wine in all ways and easily surpassed a 1995 Leoville Las Cases drunk 2 years ago. Day 2: served with Steak Diane (milder version of steak au poivre) and still going strong.

  Gorgeous mature Saint Julien with plenty of time left at its apex. Not tired. Balanced and classic with graphite, smoke, poturri, leather, tobacco, cherry and black currant fruit, and organic soil. There is a deft freshness and the wine still posseses tension and energy. Lovely integration, nice balance between fruit and acid. A real buy at a fair price.
