A French Night at La Belle Vie with a lot of Burgs and Some Others (La Belle Vie, Mpls): Medium dark gold color - actually not as dark as one might expect; an '89 Suduiraut from a couple weeks ago was much darker. Drank 1 glass over 30 minutes. Well...where do I begin, this was pristine, a sheer delight, perfect provenance. you wouldn't even fathom that this could be 27 years old now. So fresh and bright on both the nose and palate. I love the pineapple, apricot, and orange notes on the nose, honey, honeysuckle, and mild botrytis spices, even a bit tropical. The palate delivers in much the same way. Incredible balance of sweetness and acidity, white blossoms, mandarin orange, apricot, honey, textured and ethereal. Long and gorgeous. Holy Sh#%. I love it when a wine over delivers.
Beautifully golden with 25 years of age without any trace of tiredness in its aromas, there is a beautiful balance with lovely and rich flavors of marmalade, acacia honey, apricot, and dried pineapple. Unctuous yet never cloying, a little orange peel bitterness emerges in the long and silky finish.
