This surprised me, as it has been siting in my cellar for a few years. I thought it might be deteriorating, but it was very enjoyable. Dark purple with no bricking, but not as dense as a Cabernet. Medium-slow legs. Nose of plums and tropical fruit with a little raisin, some cotton candy, bubble gun and tobacco. The high alcohol content is obvious, but does not overpower with heat. The mouthfeel is full with grippy tannins. Initially plums and dark berries, followed by tobacco raisins cedar and a hint of menthol or eucalyptus. Mid palate comes with some acidic lift and citrus notes and spice, followed by a long finish of orange tobacco and tannic grip. Some port character, but in a good way. Best after about an hour exposure to air.

Wonderful. Started out a bit tough and restrained, then opened into a smooth, lush bowl of perfectly integrated fruit, with just a hint of menthol - very reminiscent of Bordeaux. A gorgeous wine we could have drank all night.

This wine made a lot of progress in a years time. Pop and pour was delicious. Deep dark fruits and a long finish!
