Black cherry nose, more cherry and forest fruits in the mouth, balanced tannish and quite moreish. Without knowing what it was I would have said it was Italian.

Decanted for about an hour, the bottle had a surprisingly short cork. A very dark red with a violet tinge to the edge. The nose is fairly expressive with rather interesting notes of blackberries, licorice, dark chocolate and a slight hint of meat. The palate is enjoyable, with medium tannins, nice fruit and longish finish. Quite a strong wine, would go well with a steak or similar.

{screwcap, 13%, A$12} Youthful, restrained nose of soft earth and gentle blackberry. The palate has black, soft liquorice flavours, minimal tannins, medium-bodied weight, little appreciable acid; it really is made to appeal to te widest possible market. Well-enough made, but simple; even ripe fruits alone can't give complexity to the palate or length to the finish. For the money OK, and an impressive achievement given Australia's tax system, but just not interesting enough to justify a repeat purchase.

Leather, chocolate and cherry on the nose with a nice balanced savoury palate.
