Similar to the 70 BV in that it had cool light fruit, but it showed a bit more bricking and oxidation. Was still very drinkable but didn't really grow on the palate like the 70 BV did with time.

The first few sips prior to eating were very uninteresting. At first like a light tea, but with the meal the wine opened up and had some spice, raisin, and minerality.

For a wine of this age from CA, I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't dead. That said, there was a definite 'figgyness', an element of really ripe fruit or high pH. This pruney/fig note continued to blossom in the glass over the next 2o to 30 minutes. Beneath these older fruit notes were interesting elements of true cabernet sauvignon: still some tannin, good acid balance and length. I wouldn't wait on this one any longer.

just OK, some fruit, a little on the dry side and an abrupt finish.
