Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.5 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 2 notes)

Tasted by mreinitz on 11/20/2009 & rated 90 points: I misread the label and thought this was one of my 2006 bottles. Time for reading glasses I guess. The wine still seems young. Not much in the way of aromatics. Took about three hours to open up but got better and better...deep dark fruit and a hint of smoke. Really mouth coating. It's good now and I think this will be excellent in a year or two. (186 views)
Tasted by RPerro on 9/12/2009 & rated 89 points: Oregon Wine Country Tasting (Willamette Valley, OR): Not sure where the time went...I hadn't even had a chance to pickup any of the 2007 and the 2008 is already here. How time flies...This wine is quite young, but shows much promise. Peppery blackberry and cassis, with bacon fat and smoked meat. Makes me wonder if there is some Viognier in this. I like it, but it needs a year or so to come together. (305 views)

Producer website

With vineyards throughout the Pacific Northwest, Owen Roe, named after a 17th century Irish patriot who dedicated his life to political equality and freedom, is owned and run by Jerry Owen and David O'Reilly (winemaker). Their aim is to source only the very best fruit from top sites in Oregon and Washington, handle it gently in the winery, and produce wines of superior balance and quality.
From winery: The fruit for the Lady Rosa Syrah is from a six mile area situated high in the cool western Yakima Valley. Two vineyards comprise this wine; Hugh and Kathy Shiels DuBrul? Vineyard, and Outlook Vineyard farmed by Roger Bates. Their small crop yielded ethereal aromas and wonderfully rich fruit flavors with fragrant violets and natural balanced acidity. This wine should mature beautifully over the next ten years.
