  • Tasted at a Spring Mountain tasting dinner. This elegant, Bordeaux style was great. I don't know what it was like in it's early life but in tasting the 2009 as well (90), I can see where this wine could have been viewed as awkward and scored lower earlier on. Now it is very well balanced, good fruit, French oak, with a good finish. Not a huge, fruit forward cab that is more en vogue today. Certainly has the structure to go another 5-7 years.

  • Very drinkable and enjoyable upon opening. Tannins and fruit seem very well integrated now. Depth of flavor.

  • Blue fruit, depth, touch of leather/minerality... needed an hour to start singing. Tannic at first, but that blew over after an hour and opened into something elegant and powerful. Will open the next at least 2 years from now.

  • As others note, it needs a substantial decanting before it opens up. Then it's very nice.

  • Enjoyed undecanted on it's own with water.
    Bottle: Great condition 375ml
Cork: Excellent shape, RECORD beautiful deep purple tartric crystallization.
    Look: Great deep purple/red.
Nose: Wonderful blackberry, blueberry, vanilla. very tannic.
Taste: Huge black fruits, cedar, big tannins, some herbs, slight vanilla .
    Finish: 1 min+
Summary: Great like the earlier bottle I had. Recommend decant 1 or 2 hrs before and ideally pair with big meat or at least big aged gouda or gruyere. Could easily cellar for 1 or 2 more years - even in the small bottle!
