Reasonably well cellared since purchase in 1990. Solid cork, little sediment, bit of a brown rim, surprisingly fruity but certainly well balanced (for a Zin.) Not a lot of depth. These were tannic monsters even after 5-10 years, but the tannins are down to a nice offset to the fruit on the finish. Very enjoyable with a slow cooked check steak stew.

Slightly musty on opening, but then blossoms with 30 minutes of air. Still jammy but aged zin fruit with good meat, earth and herbal notes. Rustic finish.

Wow is all I can say. I bought this on sale at Applejack for $7.99 ($9.59 regular price) way back when (the bottle still had the orange and white price stickers). Carefully cellared all these years and popped tonight for my son's 30th birthday. Similar notes to other older Ridge Zins that I have cellared and opened over the last few years. The cork was in good shape. Decanted prior to pouring with some sediment on the side on which it had been lying. Lighter color but not browned. Had nice cherry-style fruit with good balance and an elegant finish. And it still showed well after 2+ hours. These Ridge Zins from the 80's and 90's are just remarkable wines. Kudos to Paul Draper!

Clear pale garnet with rim browning. Raspberry, clove, cigar box. Low acids, medium to low tannins. Toasted oak. Short balanced finish. Bottle at Linda Blairs

PnP. Lots of tart red fruits, especially raspberries, dominate the nose and palate. For me, this lacked complexity and was overly acidic. Perhaps it is past its prime.
