The wine is a deep, dark maroon color. The absolutely stunning nose has blackberries, cherries, minerals, eucalyptus, violets, Asian spices, licorice, and a touch of earthiness. This has medium to full body, moderate ripe tannins, and good acidity. This delivers a mouthful of juicy berries and spice up front with minerals, eucalyptus, and some earthiness kicking in on the back end. The finish is fairly long with nice lingering sweet fruit, spice, and minerals.
Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of Graham cracker, pepper, Kirsch and fresh cut flowers. Flavors of berries, raspberries and cherries. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannin, medium to full body. Drink now with some air or continue to hold. Should drink well for 3-5 years easily.
A bit lighter than I'd expect from a syrah/mourvedre blend, and while I did enjoy the interplay between pepper and sweetness that the two varietals bring in this wine, it lacked complexity and richness.
