  • Nose where woody vanilla dominates. It takes all the strength and intensity of the floral aromas to break through this luxurious woodiness. Small being a little intrusive but pleasant.

On the palate, the woodiness is supplanted by the power of the wine which relegates the vanilla aromas to the background. White fruits, lime and above all a mineral intensity in this wine which surprises. Sensation of licking a wet stone and a limestone rock. Structured wine where each aroma fades in favor of the next, magnificently textured juice while having a beautiful filigree tension. Great saline finish with a hint of vanilla that makes you smile.

Excellent. I am not a fan of oak but when it is well integrated and contributes to the complexity of the wine without masking its origins, then it is very pleasant.

  • The 2008 Corton-Charlemagne is understated and elegant with a nose of white peach and ginger with a background framing of subtle oaky vanillin. Medium light in body with bright acidity and a crisp, vibrant texture. PYCM's Corton-Charlie is usually not a big wine but a nervier, more mineral-driven cuvée than many other producers bottle and that continues here.

  • not blind, Magnum
One of the weaker bottles of the evening. Some lactic notes, bottle was opened the day before. Fruit and acidity were in the background. 92-93

  • DM Thursday Night Zoom Tasting: Tasted blind next to the 2007 and 2010 PYCM Corton-Charlemagne. Quite floral and bright on the nose with a touch of flint yet had a slight cheezy funky note hanging around. It wasn't TCA but something was there. Clean on the palate, showing a linear lemon juice core with a touch of toast and spice. This was more restrained and softer than the 07. Really nice profile on this and very balanced, yet seemed a touch light in style for a CC. Overall though this was delicious and drinking well

  • 4th bottle in about a year, this is precise, balanced, with ample nervosite. On the youngish side, but it was a risk worth taking after one of the previous bottles being a bit oxidized. As good a Corton Charlemagne as there is, except Coche Dury, and the hallmark here is balance. This isn't a "wow" wine it's not in your face, but it's got everything in the right proportion.
