Needed a 3hr decant. Then complex aromas of blueberries, raspberries, white pepper, vanilla hints, leather and some strawberries. Has a medium bodied, smooth palate with very good concentration, a lush and plump and deliniated middle with nice oak ending on a medium long fresh and reasonably elegant sweet and sour finish.
This is a nice classic styled Rioja. Earthy, leathery, minerality, and oak on the nose with underlying red berry fruit. Palate is a little tight initially, but opens nicely; has lots of freshness, good fruit, tannins that seem well integrated, and is overall solid. Not in the same league as recent Lopez de Heredia's that I've tasted, but good traditional style that is very enjoyable.
Deep dark colour. And earthy, musty dominant taste with papery overtones. Surprising full body nose that holds its own for a 22$ bottle. Opened up over time. Complemented my sous vide lamb very very well. I need to find more of this wine!!!

(Marques De Riscal Rioja Reserva) COLOR-dark; NOSE-sour raspberry; twigs and a little bit of plum; PALATE-good solid fruit; I highly recommend people trying this as it gives a good sense of what Old World Rioja taste like a really nice price point; has great black tea leaf component that I like; there's some plum action on the finish; also a red pepper component that I kind of like; medium bodied; solid; one of the better Reserva's from Rioja that I've had; lacks some depth and range of flavors, but really solid and really well made; a nice beef jerky component on the finish as well; good old fashioned Rioja; would go well with cheese's and pizza; good Tuesday night wine; JM-90; GV-87
