This was really excellent tonight! Soft, round red fruit, with all the requisite cdp components, firm acidity at it's core and fine, dusty, well integrated tannins on the long finish. For my tastes, this is fully mature, but I suspect there's lots of life left here. Just delicious!!
Monthly Tasting Group: CDP's and Southern Rhones (Meritage, St. Paul): Dark red color. PNP, drank 1 glass over 2 hours. This was also quite good, nicely perfumed on the nose, it took a good 20 minutes to evolve in glass, showing darker fruits, damp earthiness, and spice. Refined palate, silky, nice dark fruits, spice, and good herb de Provence character.
Popped and drank over the subsequent 3 hours. Initially, light garrigue on the nose, touch of black olive on the attack with some garrigue, moderate acid and good tannin on the medium finish. After an hour, the finish elongated, mouthfeel improved, dark fruit became more expressive. Well balanced wine (esp after an hour decant). I don't expect the wine to improve much with age.
