Rather odd wine - a very glycerine heavy mouthfeel for the first couple hours it's open. Cherries, plums, spices, and some wilder elements poked through here and there. Tannins picked up over a couple hours of air, as did more stick elements. Day 2 this was a more standard big burly Syrah with balance.

Shocked at how much I enjoyed it. Much better than prior bottles. Probably gave it two hours of air. Inky purple. Pleasant nose. Full bodied bold but smooth and not overpowering fruit. Complex. Dark purple, deep blue and red. Nice finish. I may be generous with the rating as this was my last bottle, and I didn't think that I would miss it.

Drinking well. Better than I remember. Just on the light side of being full bodied. Pleasant red and blue fruit. A slight hint of green at the end that I could do without.

(Wind Gap Griffin's Lair Syrah) #1; BLIND; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very New World; more California, some earthiness; very dark; big black pepper; big black fruit; big bombastic style; BIG, BIG BIG!!; PALATE-I believe this is New World; good, really ripe fruit; chewy; gamey; good chocolate; Barbeque structure; great blackberry flavors; I like this wine; it's juicy, but has balance; it does have some Old World classic structure with some charcoal and soil on the back-end; and also a great mid-palate transition which is really the star of this wine; great upfront fruit; great mid-palate and transition; I'm liking g this wine more and more; good structure; good fruit; I like it's intensity and structure; I like this a lot and I'm guessing a $45 Syrah from maybe Santa Barbara; really good wine; WS-92; GV-91

Initially it's all olive and dark fruit. Continued to open up over a couple hours. Excellent.

Holy green olives, Batman! Olives on the nose, through saline on the finish.
