Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.4 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 9 notes)

Tasted by Brsed on 9/26/2009 & rated 92 points: At Smith and Wolly's--No formal notes. Nice wine but think a comparable St. Emilion could have been had for less. (133 views)
Tasted by Sedation (yellowgas) on 9/25/2009 & rated 89 points: decanted for a couple of hours, would have been better if i popped and poured. the wine lost quite a bit after decanting. fruit was weak and thin, tannins were lost. but i held a nice balance and went well with the prime rib we had for dinner.  Tasted by tkoby11 on 2/26/2009 & rated 91 points: Decanted as it was tight and sulfury at opening. Alcohole burn at first. After 30 minutes it started to show nicely.

Color: Dark red core, garnet edges

Nose: Black currants and black cherry, some sweet oak and spicy cedar trade off for attention, mocha after some more time

Palate: Cinnamon, cherry, leather, firm tannins mean this has plenty of time left. Flavors integrate nicely with the tannin and the acidity. Finish is a little short, but I think that's a produt of the very hot 2003 vintage. (363 views)

Tasted by Medium Toast on 10/13/2007 & rated 88 points: (381 views)
Tasted by GreenDrazi on 3/28/2006 & rated 92 points: Atlanta Vielles Vignes – Bone’s and Cabs (Bone's Restaurant, Atlanta, GA): Nose of red fruits and cassis. Soft, plush and richly layered flavors of cassis, red fruits and a hint of plum along with a touch of graphite, anise and prominent sweet vanilla oak. Otherwise, nicely balanced and well integrated with acidity. Increased mocha and oak on the broad mid-palate. Very fine tannins with a nice finish. (1644 views)
Tasted by CharlesHetzel on 9/30/2005 & rated 90 points: (846 views)
Tasted by Veraison on 6/4/2004: Napa-Noma Trip: Barrel Sample - 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot. - All I noted was more glue. Something got into my palate, or the wine. We left the cave to taste a few wines from bottle. (231 views)
Tasted by Veraison on 6/4/2004: Napa-Noma Trip: Tannic, astringent nose. Mint and anise. Supple entry with currant and cherry fruit. Then I wrote, "eh. Not exciting to me." whatever that means. (231 views)

About red wine
The variety Red Bordeaux Blend on CellarTracker implies any blend using any or all of the five traditional Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. As such, this is used worldwide, whether for wines from Bordeaux, Meritages from California and Canada, some Super-Tuscan wines etc.
WineAmerica (National Association of American Wineries) | Free the Grapes!
California Wines (Wine Institute of California)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in almost 10 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
