Wine meet – Chambertin @ Lars: Dark colour but a lovely nose with some earthy notes. Powerful, mainly dark clear fruits with a nice sweetness. Full-bodied but still quite delicate and balanced with integrated tannins. Really good now but still on the young side.

a bit closed on the nose at this time, good acidity and fruit on the palate, lingers on the palate and long finish. maybe needed more air or i didn't caught it at this time

Much more vibrant than I expected with a lot of very ripe black cherry and earthy / balsam flavors. Rosemary & herbal notes on the nose and a really dark red clay & strawberry color. It had a wild streak of cedar and tobacco with a hint of licorice. Retail price is $400, but I paid nothing as it was considered "overflow" from part of a larger collection. Hurray!!

The first time I tried this a couple of years ago I thought that Alan’s comparisons to Rousseau were just crazy. It’s amazing what a few more years and lesser expectations does. On the nose there is wonderful spice, almost vosne-like, along with fine earth tones. The fruit is dark with a nice long and smoothly textured finish and a bit of savoriness. It is no Rousseau Chambertin, but then again, very few wines on this planet are. However, it is closer to Rousseau Chambertin than, say Trapet. A wonderful wine and certainly worth holding.
