93-94. Took 30 minutes to flesh out, with rich rounded dark cherry fruit and complexity of other fruit (plum, berries), meaty (felt more muscular than I expected for a CV.), a dollop of aged earth, meaty, and old dusty tannins. Texturally silky. Aromatically muted. Had a little old wine mustiness.

Wow, an incredible mature and still full throttle bottle of Burgundy. Grand Cru weight and concentration with so much earthen, smoky, dried spice complexity and detail. Peak drinking with the stuffing to last a decade+

Clos Vougeot - Clos Center Tasting (Chicago, IL): This wine has been consistently awesome, as is most of the 1990 Jadot line up. Full throttle aromas that have still-sweet fruit with Vosne spice and brown sugar accents. Gorgeous full-bodied palate that is powerful and precise. Crushed fruit and spice for days. More hedonistic than nuanced but so darn good.

Clos Vougeot (The Center) Tasting (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): In 97/90/85 vertical. Very rich with very good concentration & depth and just faint earth hints. I liked this a lot but found it slightly simpler than I'd expect at this age, while others enjoyed it more.

Lardière simply crushed 1990 -- not a sign of roasted or over-ripe or un-freshness. The nose is youthfully rich with plenty of red and black cherry with earth and spice complexity. The palate is round, full and buoyant with GC concentration. You could complain that this Vougeot isn't particularly distinctive -- i would have guessed Gevrey if blind -- but it's too damn good and tasty to complain about anything.
