Still a bruiser and in need of a 2+ hour decant if you want to get past the hurly-burly of the initial tannins. On the nose it's a big winner, with a rich blackberry compote and vanilley crème brulee, but once on the tongue it gets complicated. Some briary spice but mostly black, almost over the top cherries and fig flavors. I wish that the mid palate was more fulfilling, not hollow as much as a clipped flavor and somewhat short finish. It was finished up on day two and the extra air time really helped to both relax the tightwound tannins and unjumble the first day's fruity mess. Easily hold for another 3-4 years.
