Medlar lunch: Decanted. A worrying bronzed gold. Not oxidised though. When poured, it seems to lighten in the glass. Classic Meursault, rich, buttery, rounded, but increasingly delineated and mineral in the glass. When left after first course and returned to with cheese it seemed more shapely with great definition, but still showing some richness and leg. Impressive. ****
Decanted for 60mins. This is very generous today (not pre-mox). The aromas blossom in the glass with complex note of pear, melon and a dash of lemon wrapping in a highly perfume white floral scents. With time, a touch of honey and huge mineral, crushed rock and fresh herbs notes emerged. On the palate it has excellent lively acid for the cut and lift and thanks for the concentration of white and yellow fruits for the balance which formed the creamy mouth feel and fantastic mid palate sap. As usual, Lafon is always a safe bet when comes to Meursault. Long, juicy intense finished with vanilla and mineral note. There was touch of oak but not at all distracting.
