First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. Medium minus intensity aromas of slightly dusty red cherry, slight sweet spice and leather, caramel and vanilla. In the mouth it's juicy with cherry fruit, it's quite pretty but does have loads of tannins that might outlast the fruit; there is some age here as well. I guessed NZ Pinot from Marlborough and 2010 vintage.

Light garnet in colour. Dark cherry on the nose, some earthy notes and a little smoky. Medium bodied, ripe red fruit flavour profile. Gains a bit more weight with some air, creamy texture, some liquorice, tannins integrated, very smooth finish.

Smell: dark cherries, oak, spice. Taste: more of the same and red cherries. Good balance. Agree with previous review that it is new world but with complexity.

Blueberry, vanilla and meat on the nose. Fine tannins and great acidity with lingonberries, redcurrant, blueberries and pepper on the palate. Really smooth and with great balance. Great start of 2010.

Linear but with complexity. New world rather than Burgundian.
