Stamford Book Club No. 3 - Spanish authors; 7/17/2012-7/18/2012 (Casa Vadel): Deep, dark reddish purple. Nose was strong, but sharp with a lot of oak and leather. The palate also made me think this is too young to drink (though i don't know if it will age well). The tannins and oakiness were strong. There was dark red fruit, but it was hidden behind the oak and spice. Although the tannins were strong, it wasn't peel-the-enamel-off-your-teeth strong. It was pretty well balanced and would go well with a thick steak - or better, some lamb. Overall it was a nice wine but I would have it with a meal next time - cheese and crackers don't cut it.
