  • Found this at the back of the cupboard sitting beside a 2012 By Farr Chardonnay. The by Farr was straight down the sink. This wine was very good. Light colour. Light lemon nose and taste. Good acidic aftertaste . A classic Australian Chardonnay that I have returned to recently

  • A year on and no change. will be a long lived wine. Agree with GraemeG previous comment, very Chablis like and a very reserved version of Vat 47 compared to a decade ago for example. I prefer the 'old school' version. Tyrrell's will have fun pulling this out as a 20 year old chardy curio. An aperitif wine due to it's chablis like nature (tight grapefruity back palate).

  • {screwcap, 13.3%} Still pale straw yellow with a flash of green. Chablis-like nose, with green capsicum notes, tight citrus, with the lightest seasoning of spiced oak. Light/medium body, with medium acid, flavours that follow the nose, a light green aspect pervading all. Somewhat developed, but no one would pick it as twelve years old. Might be worth keeping another decade, although I get an unrepentant sense that says it’s not going to get better. Will hold, and has a refreshing assertiveness, with some complexity. Dry, medium length but translucent finish.

  • Classic taste for a mature Vat 47. That light to medium bodied build. soft acid indicating mature wine. Still with some lemon/grapefruit/tertiary points to it. Not sure I'd say it has 3 years to its apogee, I'm thinking it is pretty much optimal at 10 years of age. Good to very good but doesn't blow the roof off the stadium.

  • {screwcap, 13.2%} Had no idea I'd opened this in March until I sat down to write the TN, which was pretty much identical. Tight, figgy, subtly-oaked, medium weight, with grapefruit flavours, medium acid, medium/full body, medium length finish. Good chardonnay which really deserves more time. Wait, for more complexity and depth.
