We were pleasantly surprised that this wine has aged well. The cork was dried and hollow like, despite being stored in a temperature/humidity controlled cellar. Wine is flavorful but we will not wait long before we have our last bottle from 2003 as it was showing some signs of being close to losing its beauty.

Bottle age has allowed this to exude classic, Hall elegance. The black cherry, mulberry, and cocoa powder bouquet develops alluring notes of pencil lead and pipe tobacco. Dominated by structure and complexity, the full-bodied, palate is driven by a rich, lushness of fruit that is at once sweet yet restrained. It hits its stride at the 4-hour mark, where fancy oak and firm tannin literally melt in the glass. A beautiful wine that comes across with verve, energy, and a sense of place. 93+

PNP. Drank over two hours. Bright red in color. Bright red fruits on the nose with floral overtones and some oak. On the palate red raspberries, red cherries and plum. Additional notes of coffee and spice box. Gripping tannins. Stood up well against the more expensive 2007 Quintessa. (Celebrating family birthdays - April 2, 2011)

Much better then the HALL red label which Parker seemed to love so much... far less manipulation, better overall structure and acidity with a nice fruit balance.
