Drunk against 07 St. Cosme Gigondas. Very dark. Lively, intense nose. Flavours were also intense, fresh and well delineated. Did notice some heat from excess alcohol. Unlike many reviews below, the wine still tasted quite young to me, with years and years to go. Cosme tasted much more mature, smoothed out and integrated. I won't return to it for 2-3 years.

A rich and delicious wine that shows the heat of the vintage while remaining balanced. The nose was all about black fruit and plum with sweet spice, crushed stone and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, it flooded the senses with spicy blackberry fruit. Wave after wave of velvet-textured fruit, spice and lavender were kept fresh yet lasted long, long long through the finish.
On this night, we enjoyed a German style meal with pork schnitzel in hunter sauce, with dumplings and red cabbage. Tasting this wine, I found it remarkable in how well it paired with these rich Teutonic treats. This was my last bottle and I am sad to see it go.

(Domaine du Grapillon d'Or Gigondas) Dark red violet color; nice tart berry, tar, salty licorice, black fruit nose; tight, focused, tart black fruit, tar, black plum, mineral palate; medium finish

Lots of fruit left. Dark and brooding, but starting to get tired. A little dusty in the mouth

One of the darkest wines I've had in a while - and with intensity all round to match.
