We found this while cleaning out our collection and decided to try it despite its advanced age.
Jim thought the fruit held up and it was not overly tannic. Not much complexity but dollar for dollar, pretty good for its age.
Jennifer took a sip, said it reminded her of communion wine, and opted to drink an abandoned Redd’s Apple Ale instead. She also remembers that she liked this bottle’s siblings in its prime.

Some wines with friends (Sue and Bobby's): This is a new wine for me. I think it is an odd Syrah, Pinot Noir blend. Fully mature. Purple in color. The nose has black cherries and cherries. Despite its age and blend, there isn't a lot of complexity here, but it drinks quite pleasantly. Purple and red fruits.

Dark, inky purple in color. First impression is that the wine is starting to show its age (as Morg also reported in 2011) - shame on us for not opening it earlier! That being said, it is still a perfectly pleasant wine. On the nose there is a hint of menthol and also some cherry. On the palate, black current as well as some cocoa (on the finish). It reminds us of a smaller, less fruity Shiraz. Two more bottles in our cellar - we'll be opening them sooner rather than later.
