Well, turns out I didn't finish this vintage four years ago like I thought. Opened and decanted for sediment to pair with grilled Teriyaki flank steak. A dark garnet red robe extending out to bricked edges, the nose initially beckoned with plum, dark cherry, cedar and earth. Medium-bodied, this again responded to air by gaining structure and color at the cost of its nose. Better than expected, though glad to finally have consumed the last of these.

Decanted 1 hour before pairing with grilled marinated flank steak. Initially an orangy ruby with tawny edges, though when finally poured it had been resurrected nicely, with a deepened ruby and nearly all tawniness cleared up. The nose initially featured blood, tomato leaf, dark fruits and leather, but once poured this was mostly dark fruits, a hint of blood and leather, slightly green overtones, and subtle oak spices. Yet another example of a marginal red saved by time in the decanter. Certainly at maturation at this point, and will consume our last remaining bottle in the quarter.

Drank with Cheese plate along side 1997 magnificat. I enjoyed the 97 more, my wife liked this. (Both were great, I like cab franc more than she does)
Great color, a bit of green peeper in the nose, could really taste the contributions from the varietals. Very nice wine.
This is another wine from my collection that I was always saving for a special occasion or dinner, but as my average price paid per bottle has gone up recently, it is time to open up some of these older bottles. Quite a treat

Very peppery. A little past its prime.
