The depth of the hard tannins in this wine - also not otherwise flawed - exceeds that of the Santenay Comme I am also tasting tonight. This wine was opened about a day ago. No change noted. That said, this wine is a bit more silky in the sense that the hard tannins more glide across the palate creating a more rounded overwhelming mouth puckering squinty astringency as opposed to the Santenay. But as always with the unflawed 83's, somewhere on the way to the finish a really powerfully extracted wonderfully pure tasty pinot fruit note emerges, which in due course in this wine gives way to a very long hard tannin finish. Does it look remotely old (it has been stored at 53 degrees or less since 1986)? No.
