  PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Flower” day): Pale ruby to the eyes.
  
  Medicinal and meaty. Smoky and very much liquorice.
  
  But decidedly lighter in style compared to the 2000 tasted alongside. Feels like this has some hints to its greatness but extracted enough?
  
  Really good wine but again paled in front of the 2000 which is majestic. Really enjoyable nonetheless. 94-95 points.
  
  Second round: richer ruby fruits. Very good spices.

  Boxing Day Lunch at Home with Friends (Our House, Hong Kong): Opened for 2 hours but not decanted then drank over the next three. Translucent beef blood colour. Nose is immediately WOW!....so deep and pure....enormous depth of strawberry, spices and lots else....this is like plunging down the rabbit hole with Alice. It gets more heavenly with extended time in the glass. Palate has a crisply acidic freshness on entry then a starburst of wild woodland strawberries, allspice, sandalwood, wild blackberry....incredible multi-layered depth which reflects the whole-cluster fermentation. Fabulous etherial lightness but power of resonance and reverberance inside the inner cortex of the head on the very long finale. Still very young but already so accessible. This wine mounted progressively to cross the 'silence creating' threshold. If I had another bottle I would serve it on its own to fully contemplate. Thanks, Herald!
