As with the ’06, there’s plenty of sandalwood to the aroma here. It is red and black fruited and has some smoke, dried flowers and freshly grated ginger. It is deep, voluminous, layered and long. Such great balance and poise and very persistent.

Asian Spice Night, Brûlées Edition (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): Served alongside the 2007 Brûlées. So much black and red cherry throughout with very impressive concentration. Rich and very tasty, this was head-turningly beautiful, but somewhat less nuanced and charming once you looked closely. Still incredibly enjoyable, even if it could not live up to the Brûlées in the next glass.

Asian Spice (Chicago, IL): Grand Cru density and a large-scale stature with bold black cherry fruit, spice, clay and earth tones. More stately and less flamboyant than the 2007 Leroy Brulées side-by-side. This likely has some upside though it’s hard to turn down as is.

02433/6080. Glossy, classy, dense, packed Vosne aromatics but not opulent yet. Thought this vintage would be early drinking--perhaps not for Beaux Monts. 94+

This is so good. Subtle, cool, stem aromatics. Polished, ethereal, balanced palate. Stunning.
