Tight and slightly reductive upon opening. Very slowly started to show itself with ripe raspberry and strawberry, asian spices, touch of cola; quite austere, linear tannins, structure hasn't softened enough to show the elegance expected from southern Volnay; the fruit and structure is there, wine should improve and have a good 5-10 years left of enjoyable drinking.

A lovely wine in the perfect state between primary and secondary flavors. Tannins are still quite firm, but the fresh raspberry is starting to meet a little tobacco, molasses, and mushroom. Tannins are still very present, but not rough at all. Such an underrated vintage.

From the wine list at Gramercy Tavern (NYC). Nice aromatics of tart red fruit and a bit of earth. Cherry and tart raspberry flavors with good acidity. Opens up after about 30 minutes in the glass. I think the drinking window ending in 2014 is incorrect - this still has a lot of life left in it. Very nice.
