  • Upon the first sniff, I knew I'm up for a treat. The unmistakable aged Leroy perfume that doesn't show in young Leroys - the Leroy 'sweat' or funk, the stems, the sweet Chambolle fruit, very sensual. The palate delivers as much pleasure or even more. Very intensely sweet juicy chambolle fruits, like an essence of pinot crammed in an otherwise velvety liquid. I was telling my friend that blinded, I'd guess this an 02 because it's just so so sweet. It doesn't have legs of a Leroy 1er cru, but would pass as a strong 1er cru of a weaker producer. The only reservation I have is that I may have drunk this 5yrs too early, it still had enough structure to last maybe for another decade and God knows how scarily good this may be in the next 5-10yrs.

  • Bought from Cellars of the Polidor and enjoyed over two days. After about an hour in the glass, opened up with appealing typical barnyard, which by day two resolved toward more floral elegance. Pricey 'village' but certainly worth trying at least once if you get the chance.

  • With white truffle at Garibaldi. Very dark red, almost inky like. Lovely intense floral nose that screamed Leroy. In fact, this was rather Vosne like with lots of spice, white pepper, violets, cassis and lavender. A clear step-up from the Mugneret Gibourg Echezeaux 1990 on the palate with lots of wild berries, strawberries, cherry cola, red kiwi, ginger spice and incense. Good length, complexity and intensity for a 2007 village, this was really punching above it’s weight.

  • Very pretty, fresh and sweet nose of red and blue fruits and of course a touch of the Leroy spice. Very impressive depth for a village wine. More so than its VR stablemates. Lovely grip on the medium finish.

  • Most distinguished by incredibly beautiful floral perfume aromatics.
