Burgundy color with a muted bouquet and flavor with hints of red fruit and just a bit of gout de terroir. It is true that this wine could evolve over time, given its pedigree, but I am suspicious that it is another Burgundy where hope exceeds promise. I have some more 2005s and will keep them longer, but for me Burgundy has been a heartbreaker and much less satisfying than New World Pinot Noir.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind (Chicago, IL): Tasted double blind. Clearly Burgundy, still firm, brooding and backward. There is very good concentration and raw material, just so little pleasure coming through yet. Needs lots of time in the cellar, certainly with 90+ point potential, 2020-? 2025-?

Elegant, beautifully soft tannins, long, a real delight.
