Initially a little reductive on the nose, but this soon dissipated to reveal a wine of great promise. This is nowhere near its peak but can be drunk with immense satisfaction now. There's plenty of elegance here but the depth of fruit and layers of complexity leading to the spicy, smoky finish suggest that I should really leave this alone for another 5-10 years.
Elegant and balanced. Some barnyard with pretty spice, lavender, herbs and solid red cherry. Full but not round on the palate with more tart cherry and asian spice. Good acid that supports, but doesn't dominate, the mid-palate and fine tannins. The finish is a bit brief and the fruit fades considerably over time in the glass, but the nose stays beautiful. Seems to be one to drink now.
