Nose of pinot evolved on faded flowers, leather, spices and still very much alive fruit.
Textured mouth that once again signs the well-born Pinot, the wine is obvious, it is elegant and fluid at the same time. Concentrated juice but totally untied, a rigorous side like many of 1999 which is the signature of the vintage in my opinion, we will have to deal with it after 24 years, the wines are still a little rigid. Nevertheless the tangy fruit remains brilliant on this wine and gives a lot of energy with length and a perfect balance. Great finish with a hint of acidity over a great noble length.
Excellent Vougeot.

The Best Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Dinner (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): This started out bright and fun, vibrant with lots of red fruit, even of not quite at the depth/ density I would expect. But the fruit was stripped and AWOL two hours later, with a whiff of wet cardboard that indicated a slight corkiness.

Welcoming 2023 with Great Wine (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): Mature red cherry throughout with good density and weight, but not as complex or nuanced as the brilliant Méo-Camuzet Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers just tasted.

This started out particularly nice, but then got weird. Perhaps it was slightly corked and somehow did not pick it up at first.

Very sweet red fruit, spice with an iron note. Fresh and fully open. Peak for me.
