Dinner at 312 Fish Market (Chicago, IL): Very much what Montrachet should be -- inordinately thick and rich, oily, and opulent. A very dense texture on the palate, with an intensity that comes off almost bitter because there's so much of it. Relatively low in acid, but it's made up for in the form of the sheer amount of extract. Huge fan of white Burgundy made before chardonnay these days. It's way more opulent and rustic.

"Only for Sundays" (Chicago, IL): A better bottle than my previous, and made even more so by the pairing with the coal-roasted crab at RPM Steak (which is one of the best dishes in the entire city of Chicago). Luxuriously textured for a white Burgundy with a chewiness to the extract here. This shows no reduction but a judicious dose of oak on the palate. Plenty of acidity and mature orchard fruit notes.

Sunday wines at home (Chicago, IL): Green/gold colour. Pretty much what you would expect from this wine. It certainly has that Montrachet intensity and sappiness, despite being from a weaker vintage. Very good intensity and concentration here (and definitely dialled up from the usual grand cru white Burgundy sense), and preternaturally fresh for whatever reason. The old Jadot whites from the pre-premox era are really something to behold. Really good stuff.

Wasn't expecting much so this was a pleasant surprise. Bright yellow in color with a green tint. Nice umami and white mushrooms on he nose. On the palate there still nice nectarine fruit, a touch of misplaced oak but otherwise nice balance and a certain elegance for the vintage.

Winemaker dinner with Giuseppe Vaira (RPM Steak - Chicago, IL): A stunningly gorgeous bottle of Montrachet with incredible depth and concentration of fruit that is nuanced and layered yet still so fresh. Towering palate with a long, long finish.
