  • Ruby color. Nose of ripe berry, violets, anise, earth. Some medicinal austerity to the tangy, brambly, slightly rustic red fruit on the palate which later resolved in favor of riper notes of plum and raspberry. Fresh acidity and finer tannin leading to a moderately long finish of red cherry fruit and iron. Last sips were best, a bit unexpected in a 2007. Last of a 5 bottle run, still full of character and verve.

  • Picked up for less than 40 bucks a few years ago, opened to accompany roast chicken. Medium ruby color. Nose of forest floor, licorice, raspberry, florals, a whiff of wood. Tangy and fruit forward on the attack with late arrival of anise, red raspberry, earth, and iron on each sip. Very nice balance of freshening acidity and grippy tannins, leading to a delicious finish of red sap and stoniness. Quite nuanced and interesting already, with lots of time to develop further.

  • Ruby hue. Nose was full of blue florals, camphor, raspberry, spice. Tart and sharp on the palate with lots of energy and clean black cherry and raspberry fruit. Acidity was freshening, tannins quite manageable, and the finish moderate. Still in a good space right now, which must be characteristic of the 07s. Terrific buy.

  • Clear ruby. Nose of koolaid or something equally sugary. But on the palate, a nice mix of sandalwood, mulberry, bing cherry, and some caramel. Laced with mineral and earth. Shutting down just a little but still a nice drink.

  • Popped and poured. Beautiful ruby color. Fulsome bing cherry and iodine scents with some black raspberry and mountain florals chiming in. Drenching blackberry and raspberry primary fruit coating the palate with nubby, slightly rustic tannins and energetic acidity providing verve and balance. Satisfyingly grippy finish with large echoes of dark fruit. Yeehah, this is fun. Delicious introduction to the 07 vintage.
