The note from 2021 is very correct. Has a mature silky palate and lushness of age like the Merlot has taken the mic. No green. Structure is light and finish is short though neither is majorly a flaw. Really mellow vibe that a 13 yr old Claret should have. Good stuff.

Decanted 1hr, 5th bottle of 6, last tasted February, 2015 with unimpressed notes. WOW what a difference five plus years can make on a bottle of wine, this bottle was so elegant, lovey flowery nose, nicely balance between fruit and minerals, plenty of black cherry, cranberries, pomegranate, earthy stone and long smooth integrated finish. Based on this well stored bottle, no hurry to drink!

Barboursville Vineyards (at the winery with Luca Paschina): Spicy, earthy, full of root veggies (in a nice way), still a lot of primary dark berries. Will be beautiful but could be cellared for several years still I believe. 93-94. Outstanding.

Huh. My note of almost 8 yrs ago was pretty dead on. This wine has matured nicely. No greenies remain and the structure is rounded and complete. Two dimensional and on the lean side. Still a nice wine.

(Barboursville Vineyards Octagon) Dark red violet color; redolent, tart plum, tart berry nose; tight, tart berry, tart plum palate; needs 2 years; medium-plus finish (blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot)
(Barboursville Vineyards Octagon) Dark, rich garnet color, with an intense aroma of plum, cassis, coffee, and berries. The full, silky palate is set off by graceful tannins. Meet Virginia

Still drinking well. Long decant let flavors open nicely. As good as VA gets
