Had trouble getting the cork out of the bottle, so had to pour the wine thru a filter. Great color and vibrant nose still. Tastes relatively young for its age. Restrained Cabernet Sauvignon brambly flavors and good acidity indicative of earlier harvesting or a cooler vintage. Almost St. Estephe like, tho definitely Napa. Just 13.2% alcohol. Very well balanced. At its peak, not yet on the downward slide.

This wine was probably past its ideal lifetime, but it was very nice, balanced, and enjoyable. 2+ hours in a duck decanter made a significant difference, and the last glass out of the decanter a couple of hours later was very nice

Saturday, June 21, 2003 A deep, rich burgundy color with some, but not much, bricking on the rim. The color seemed to darken as time passed into a nearly opaque burgundy. Old wine, I love the bouquet: plum, cassis and tea, maybe some leather as well. Plum, licorice, cassis and saddle leather flavors; Medium leaning light in body. A quick midpalate, but the flavors continue along with a hint of chocolate to a decent length of finish. Frankly, I didn’t know what to expect with this wine as it moved with me and hasn’t had ideal storage. But surprisingly, a good wine. It’s a testament to how durable wine can be. I have no idea when I bought it or how much I paid for it, but I know it wasn’t much. 13.2% alc. With NY strips on the grill and sides of mashed red potatoes and mixed greens.
