  • Glad I waited to drink this one. Smooth tannins and fruit forward. Not much way in alcohol burn. No need to decant, ready right from pour.

  • Quite a deep colour - still youthful. Excellent spice and sweet fruit on the nose, even soon after decanting, with cedar and eucalyptus notes. The palate was full of sweet fruit and spice with dark berries, especially blackberry, but with blackcurrant acidity. The wine is big and luscious, with totally integrated 'luxury' vanillic tannins. It is very long and, whilst not a shrinking violet, manages to avoid any serious 'jammy' character. It has years ahead of it still (ignore the professional reviewers that suggested it should have been drunk by 2013 - this is seriously ignorant and misleading advice).
Set aside for a couple of hours to open and it then showed all the above with almost inky character and with cherries on the late palate (with Maraschino hints). Layers of complexity developed with time. This wine performs well above its price. 91+ Equally good after 24h.
The CT notes on this vintage seem to stop in 2012 when this wine was still a baby. I am looking forward to broaching my few bottles of the 2012 vintage but not for a few years, yet.

  • Average to good mid week red. Probably would benefit from some more air and time in the bottle.

  • Well wine are slim pickings at Whistler but Nestlers has a decent selection. A good full bodies Shiraz. Nice with steaks and for sipping. Not too tannic. A classic Shiraz.

  • Fruity, muted nose, ok wine, nothing special
