Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 92 points

  • I remember vividly tasting it as a cask sample and noting immediately the identity with Ruchottes-Chambertin, even though at the time I had never encountered the vineyard and did not know of its situation (immediately across the road from Rousseau's Clos des Ruchottes). Combining the slowness of 1996 to come around and the fact that this is old-style Faiveley would lead one to fear that the wine would still be closed down, but in fact that is not the case. The wine has minerality, red fruits, rust, tension and energy, but is a little plumper than I recall from that first encounter. It drinks very well now but still has a long life ahead of it. Cellared since original release.
