I bought half a case of this and have kept it in a temperature/humidity controlled cellar since that time. While it does show it's age, it's still in excellent condition. Lovely, mature and spot on. A littler higher abv than I like (14.8), but nevertheless quite nice. Other reviews have suggested that the wine was gone, but I seem to be fortunate. Maybe my bottles were in better shape having just been released when I bought them.

The sins of remaining on a mailing list for too long. I am a big Ridge Zin fan but have found myself with an over supply not helped by a wide range of choices and interests from other regions. Chalk this up to part of my education process.
This particular wine is gone. While the color suggests youth, the nose is astringent and the palate unforgiving.
In need of a palate lift I turn to poetry...
When the palate from the last wine is lost Turn to 1998 Grand Puy Lacoste

Not a blend; this is 100% Zin. Now showing some bottle age qualities, the profile is cranberry, rhubarb, brown sugar, Zin funk and bramble qualities. The cranberry shines from attack to finish. A very balance, smooth and nearly seamless wine. Just a delight to drink. A few years ago, an earlier bottle showed some signs of oxidation, but this showed none of that aspect. The sediment on the shoulder and at the cork continues to be heavy. 14.7% alc. With seared thick pork chops, caramelized onions and cranberry sauce. Recommended, but leaning to Highly Recommended.

Vindredi (Ridge Cellar Night) (Bellevue, WA): Showing its age; a bit raisin-y and sweet. Fine tannin and medium acid.

Perfect condition. Lovely: rich, fruity, deep.
