  • Very intriguing champagne that needed a good bit of airing before it came into its own, initially had an aroma of bread dough with a hint of chocolate and the taste was of green apples with a hint of chocolate, the nose stayed about the same over the next hour, but the taste shifted to a chocolate covered cherry with lime undertones. My wife loved it, but for me it was one of those hmmmmm wines where you aren't sure what to say about it exactly.

  • Clos Vougeot Dinner (Lavandou): Hard to really pinpoint where this wine was. Opens quite explosively with mouthsearing acidity but it quickly finds itself a bit more tame. Driven by bright fruit notes of cranberry, rasberry and hints of pear, slate stone and floral compote. It almost felt like it abruptly quieted down though after about 20 minutes in glass. I would hope with more time, some of the excessive acidity would round into form, but it doesn't seem to be balanced quite enough to go the distance. Could have simply been an awkward spot.

  • One of the best Champagnes I've ever had... creamy, yeasty, but with plenty of acidity and bubbles. Color is exceptional, rich and golden-yellow.

  • Thick mouse, fine beading, beautiful golden color. This offers a biscuity, nutty nose with hints of citrus. On the palate more of the same. Terrific acidity. Long finish. Many BdB Champagnes are delicate and ideal for toasts, but this one has the backbone for all sorts of food, as well as a rich, creamy texture I really enjoyed. Really impressive. Bought this on closeout for $14, which makes it probably one of the best values of my wine drinking life. A steal at three times that price. 92+.

  • Medium bead, yellow-gold color, no signs of age on the appearance or nose. The nose shows some baked bread aromas, some roasted nuts, yellow flowers, and the Mesnil signature (not sure how better to quantify this, but it is there). The palate is well integrated, full, and balanced. This is much better than the NV we tried a couple of years ago. Very pleasant wine and I will try to source some more.
