Decanted at 6pm and tasted over the next several hours. Not sure when I got this but I liked it more than I expected. As an entry level Pinot it is quite elegant and restrained, which I like, 13.8% ABV. Translucent light to medium ruby in color. Very pretty nose of rose petals, vanilla, baking spices and red cherry. Light texture and medium acidity with pretty low tannin. Palate shows a bit more spice than the nose along with the expected red cherry but there is also a slight medicinal note that I can’t decide if I like or not. On the finish which is moderately long you get a hint of cotton candy and a mineral overtone. This was equally good but slightly different both upon opening and after several hours, being more open and fruit driven with more air. My only bottle but by no means over the hill.

Found two bottles of this deep in the cellar, and yes, it is past its prime. We enjoyed it with spicy boneless pork ribs, seemed to match up pretty well. I won't be holding the second bottle more than a week. I really should get organized...

(Domaine Serene Yamhill Cuvee Pinot Noir) #1; COLOR-medium dark; NOSE-definitely some oak; very delicious; vanilla meets custard; like a raspberry custard torte; textbook Willamette Valley; PALATE-this is very young; I get a nice cola component; like an imaginary French Vanilla Raspberry Cola; also get a little hint of smokey BBQ action; this is seductive; well made; good structure; also textbook Willamette Pinot on the palate; JM-90; GV-89/90

A bit long in the tooth. Upon opening, a bit tart and austere. But, with time, some nice earthy notes with dark cherry, and hint of spice. Drink up!

Past it's prime. Cork broke. Not bad but lacking depth.
