(LA GROLA Allegrini) Rinaldi Dear Friends, The 2005 Baroli from Giuseppe Rinaldi are set to arrive and they continue to add weight and dimension (what else is new?) Unlike 2004, the 2005's are in very short supply so I will let the wines speak for themselves. My only directive is age - allow this set to rest for at least 6-10 years and preferably 10-15. An ample slumber in a dark corner of your cellar will be rewarded (this is not Francesco Rinaldi - G. Rinaldi's wines are nearly twice the cost) As an aside, it appears that Antonio Galloni and Tanzer tasted two different sets of wines - in speaking with the powers that be, their impression of the 2005 vintage mirrors that of Tanzer and they were almost dismayed by the reaction Galloni had (it is my understanding they are going to send him a second set of samples to taste and/or re-review). My experience with this producer is that many vintages appear light in early days but gain mass and complexity with age (similar to Giacosa). Let's put it this way, I wouldn't count Rinaldi out - period. I will print both reviews for your perusal but they are like comparing Bordeaux to Burgundy. EXTREMELY LIMITED 2005 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo "Brunate La Coste" 2005 Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo "Cannubi San Lorenzo/Ravera" (don't dismiss this wine due to the scores - I have a sneaking suspicion that in 20 years, this will eclipse the Le Coste) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy2388 Italy2387
