the best part of tasting Tannat is to recognize what it adds in blending with other wines. This wine was actually quite good, but because 2007 is a pretty sturdy vintage, this wine was itself sturdy.

-- decanted 90 minutes before initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over 2 to 3 hours --
NOSE: a bit fumey and "dark"; raisins; a bit earthy; not funky; not high-toned; medium to medium+ expressiveness.
BODY: medium-full bodied; sediment present; only the slightest bit of bricking --- this still has a youthful appearance.
TASTE: still tannic; medium to medium+ acidity; moderately hot (labelled at 15.0%); earthy/dusty purple fruit; very ripe, with some noticeable oak; not funky; not stemmy; honestly, I can't say this has improved with age. This bottle was cellared by me since 2010, when I purchased it at the winery.

I did a short decant on night one and scored this 90. I then vacuum sealed and put in the refrigerator. On the second night, it was much improved and I scored it 91. Either decant a bottle for a longer period of time if opening now or hold. I plan to hold my last bottle a little longer

Decanted 2-3 hours. Best at the end. Tannins softened considerably. Notes of chocolate really came through in this wine. Very full bodied, but no fruit bomb by any means. Can't believe I bought this for only$21 back in the day before TCV got so much press!
