  Die Farbe des regional ausgelegten Oregonesen erschien mir äußerst lebendig, zwar farblich leicht (?), aber nicht wirklich hell und ziemlich transparent. Am Rande zeigte sich sein mittleres Alter in keinster Weise. Auch Schwebeteilchen und Ähnliches konnte ich trotz ausgewiesener Unfiltrierung nicht entdecken. Die anfänglichen Eindrücke in der Nase, wie auch am Gaumen, verleiteten mich direkt zu einem mir sonst nicht so lieben Vergleich in Richtung rebgleicher Produkte aus dem 21isten Département. Im vorstehenden Fall ergab der Inhalt meines Glases eine solche „Bourgogne Rouge Frappanz“, die ich einfach nicht unerwähnt lassen wollte. Die Nase war schlank, kühl, angereichert mit schlanken und reif wirkenden Erdbeergerüchen, einer Tendenz in Richtung grün-stängelige Aromen, etwas Tropfwasser von sauren Gurken und einer aufrichtig, streng wirkenden kalkigen Aromatik, die ich mir aufgrund der willamette'ischen Unterlage nicht wirklich erklären kann. Vom oft erwähnten "Oregon Funk" und ausgeprägten Unterlaubaromen konnte nichts erriechen. Am Gaumen zeigte sich ein ähnlicher und nicht sonderlich oregonesischer Eindruck. Viel super klare, reife Erdbeerfrucht gepaart mit leichten Anklängen von dunklen Kirschen, elegant proportionierter Rauch, eine stramme gut abgestimmte kalkige Mineralik, tolle lebendige Säure, einige grüne Taninne, eine recht "feingliedriger" körper und ein mittlerer Abgang. Sicherlich nicht viel Komplexität und überbordender Anspruch, was wohl auch nicht der Anspruch dieses Pinots sein sollte. Dafür viel seriöser, gut balancierter und leichtfüßiger Pinot-Spass von absolut anständiger Qualität, den man in dieser Form, die ganz sicher nicht jedem gefällt da so Mancher dem Wein etwas Dünnlichkeit vorwerfen dürfte, außerhalb des Burgunds eher selten aufzufinden ist. Mir hat er sehr gefallen und als dünn empfand ich ihn überhaupt nicht. Nur die „Bourgogne Rouge Frappanz“ erstaunt mich immernoch.

  Had this w/ some roasted pork tenderloin & redskin potatoes waiting for me after and extremely long flight home. A beautiful pairing.

  This is finally ready to drink after being tight, tight, tight. Cherry, mushrooms, some of that Oregon funk. Acid-driven as others have noted, but the fruit, though delicate, is definitely there. Best had with food, but I also enjoyed sipping after dinner. I've been drinking a lot of Malbec and Syrah lately and the lighter taste profile - not to mention the moderate 13.5% alcohol - is quite pleasant. Make sure to drink it out of a big glass and swi-i-i-r-r-r-l. Definitely helps open it up.

After an overnight rest, it opens up to show a beautiful mix of red fruit and mulling spice and a lovely earthy component came in on day 3 and 4. Medium bodied. This is mostly strawberry and dark cherry with a smoky streak running through the mid palate. The structural backbone is primarily acid and it adds a great dimension to serving this with various food. Some mushroomy notes add to the back of the palate, but don't detract from the fresh mouthfeel. I'm fascinated with this vintage in Oregon and the advantage of buying long is that I can experiment a bit with these wines in their youth. This is excellent.

  APPEARANCE: Textbook Pinot Noir color with long legs
  AROMA: Cured meat, strawberries and tart cherries. Nice vibrant fruit
  TASTE: Very smooth with a little bit of heat on the back end
